Finance Manager Job Description
Gospel Mission Church is seeking a competent, committed and creative individual to manage its finance department.
This is a part-time or full-time position offering a competitive salary and benefits package.
Primary Functions and Responsibilities:
- Manage and optimize GMC’s financial operations
- Generate and analyze reports and forecasts.
- Formulate smarter finance workflows, strategies, and solutions (including digital solutions).
- Ensure financial and accounting processes comply with internal and industry standards, and help formulate policies towards that end.
- Provide auditing support.
- Assist with budget planning.
- Monitor and forecast financial performance and budgetary alignment.
- Help identify and assess financial risk and help develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
2. Lead and manage GMC’s finance team.
- Manage and optimize cash flow – collecting, processing, and distributing finances efficiently and accurately (receivables, payables, donations, HR, …), while ensuring adequate liquidity.
- Record, analyze and report financial data (weekly, monthly and annual reports, statement reconciliations, …)
- Oversee the implementation of approved financial policies and practices.
- Provide guidance, support and mentorship to the team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Qualifications, Expectations & Abilities
- Must have strong numerical proficiency, with attention to detail.
- Have an aptitude for financial administration and strategy.
- Able to problem-solve and think analytically.
- Able to function with interruptions.
- Education and/or experience preferred.
- Well versed and experienced with accounting software (Quickbooks, spreadsheets, …)
- Able to initiate, organize, prioritize, plan strategically, meet deadlines, work independently, motivate self, multi-task.
- Ability and confidence in interpersonal, verbal and written communication.
- Able to coordinate and lead a team.
- Enjoy being in a people related environment and working as a team.
- Lead as a servant-leader: serving, caring for and empowering people.
- Ability to work with people of various temperaments, gifts, passions, and backgrounds.
- Have a warm, open, fun and positive personality.
- Must be emotionally, relationally and spiritually healthy (marriage, home, …)
- Be creative and innovative, desiring to learn more.
- Able to maintain confidentiality and discretion (church information, ministry information, personal contract and benefits, etc.).
- Fully agree with, model and propagate GMC’s values, practices and culture.
- Be in full support of and alignment with all of GMC’s policies, statements, procedures and handbook.
